Highland Square Residents Rally to Demand a Grocery Store

Dozens of Highland Square residents, including many seniors, rallied at the corner of Market and Portage Path to demand that Albrecht, Inc. follow through on the contract it signed with the City to bring a grocery store to Highland Square. Other Akronites passing by in their cars blew their horns in support. A few members of the press were at the rally as well, and coverage appeared in the Beacon Journal and Akron News Now the following day. This rally came from a suggestion offered by local residents that attended a townhall meeting on the subject a week prior and is just one in a number of actions which have been organized to bring public awareness to an issue which is causing many seniors and other Highland Square residents great hardship.
